About Us: The Company

Nuplas is a privately owned company which was founded by Peter Reineck. As a consultant to NNFCC, the UK's National Centre for Biorenewable Energy, Fuels and Materials, Peter conducted the 2008 DEFRA-funded Feasibility Study and the 2009 DECC-funded Scoping Study which showed that it is profitable and sustainable to produce PLA from UK wheat and other sustainable crops.

Nuplas seeks to produce a second generation (G2) Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) bio-renewable plastic, ultimately replacing oil-based plastics such as PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) in packaging and fibre. Initial target markets include high volume packaging applications such as fresh produce and short shelf life products.

The Company was formed to set up, operate and deliver a turn-key facility able to produce significant volumes of G2 PLA (thereby capitalising on the results of the NNFCC studies) via a licensing arrangement with the leader in PLA technology. The Company was incorporated in England on 21st January 2010 as Company No. 7132484 under the Companies Act 2006. Its Registered Office is at 14 Clifton Moor Business Village, James Nicolson Link, York YO30 4XG, United Kingdom.
